Lol... all those Timmys out there raving about Bolas make me facepalm.
Vindicate. Vampire Hexmage. Commandeer. Willbender his +3 ability to himself. Even a Lightning Bolt if you're stupid enough to use his -2 ability the turn he comes out.
Good planeswalker though if you have the mana for him and the resources to protect and use him.

Probably bececause with Progenitus there are many ways around his mana cost. Not with bolas though.

i play 5 color control. vivid lands, reflecting pools, unsummons, counters, so on and so forth. 8 mana is no problem at all.

He's cool. But the mana cost is terrible. I out him in a five color control deck for kicks and actually got him out; my opponent scooped... lame!

People who are complaining about his cost... I mean... wow. He starts with 5 loyalty, and his + ability gives him +3. And his ultimate (2 turns after he's out, if you wanna go straight to it) is HUGE. You same people would be griping about balance if he cost any less. Let's face it-this guy is expensive, but HE'S WORTH IT.
